I teach ESOL - English to Speakers of Other Languages and EFL - English as a Foreign Language to adult learners and children
No student is ever the same. Every person has different abilities and experiences. I build on the existing strengths of my students and encourage them to work on their weaker areas. I help my students to learn English for life, not just for the classroom. My students become more confident speakers, listeners, readers and writers of English.
I have extensive experience in teaching ESOL and EFL across all levels to learners from very varied backgrounds, ages and cultures.
This includes teaching in a traditional class room face-to-face setting as well as teaching online for remote learners. I enjoy small classes, 1-1 tutoring or large classes. They all have their own requirements.
For “Haringey Learns”, the adult learning centre of the Haringey Council, I have successfully delivered exam classes as well as Skills Development classes in person, remote or in hybrid modules over many years. Haringey Council is one of the most culturally diverse boroughs in London with over 180 languages spoken by its residents.
Since returning back to Austria I have started to work with the “VHS” and “WIFI” and deliver tailored English classes for small groups face-to-face as well as remote online classes.
Additionally I offer 1-1 tutoring for children or teenagers to help them prepare for their A-Levels (Matura), help them with any weak areas and generally build up their confidence communicating in English.
Having lived in the UK for over 20 years I use and teach English in a very natural way focusing on the ability to communicate fluently and confidently for all my learners.
Before becoming an ESOL Tutor, I worked as an Executive Secretary with an international investment bank in London, UK and I spent many enjoyable years working for the Irish Public Tradeboard in Sales, Marketing and Office Management in Vienna and London.
I am a mother of two children, who are growing up bilingual. In my spare time I enjoy reading, socialising, travelling and walking my energetic Irish Setter dog.

My dad came to visit from France for 4 weeks in order to learn English.
We first looked into intensive English classes in the City on a 20 hours/week basis which was pretty intense! After a week my dad was not entirely satisfied as the classes were big and even though he learnt a lot, he didn't have many opportunities to practice his speaking.
We then decided to try 2 hours/day with Doris on a 1 to 1 basis and my dad was absolutely delighted with her services.
Doris followed a similar programme to the school but she made sure that it was tailored to my dad's needs and focused on practising conversation just like he wanted. She was very patient and always made the daily lessons fun and relevant.
Within 2 weeks he felt a significant improvement in his comprehension and felt much more confident about speaking.
